About Toledo

Toledo –The City of the Three Cultures- is located in central Spain, about 75 km south of the capital Madrid. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. It was one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Moslim and Jewish cultures. The old city of Toledo is located on a mountaintop, surrounded on three sides by a bend in the Tagus River, and contains many historical sites, including the Alcázar, the cathedral, the Zocodover, a central market place and the religious monuments, the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, and the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz.
